SUNDAY'S BREAKFAST

SUNSHINE AND COFFEE GREETINGS TO OUR 'CAROLINA IN THE FALL' GUESTS!
Rain showers ceased in the night and brought us a beautiful sunny day to enjoy the rest of the Music Festival. Today's schedule kicked off at 10am with the finest Gospel/Bluegrass venue around!
Graystone Manor's Guests enjoyed a lovely breakfast of Breakfast Apple Cobbler followed by a Turkey Herb Omelet, Thick Smokey Bacon and our signature Ginger/Carrot/Apple juice. Of course a never ending supply of our special blended coffee!
Yum, Yum.... Guaranteed to stick with you all day!
Can't get to the Graystone for Breakfast? No problem, here is our very own recipe for you to try:

BREAKFAST APPLE COBBLER

2 whole apples 2 c. biscuit mix 2 c. oatmeal
1 c. brown sugar 1/2 stick butter 4 tbsp. brandy
1 tsp. ginger 1 tsp. cloves 1 tsp. cinnamon
1/2 c. pecans

Core & cut apples in thin slices. Place apples, 2 tbsp. butter, brandy, ginger, cloves, cinnamon and 1/4 c. brown sugar in sauce pan and caramelize & reduce. Take 4-6 ramekins grease or spray inside. Mix biscuit mix with water to create dough. Spoon in dough into ramekins and make a well. Place apples and syrup from reduction into middle of each ramekin. Take remaining ingredients and mix into oatmeal to create crumble topping. May add pecans or use as top garnish. Top ramekin with oatmeal crumble & bake at 350 degrees 10-15 minutes . Be sure to place ramekins on cookie sheet for baking. (Created by Georgina Thompson, Graystone Manor Bed & Breakfast Inn, Wilkesboro, NC)

Recent Activity

We are looking forward to the upcoming Haunted Computer Paranormal Conference Oct 23-25th.
After our recent Sage cleansing the spirits have been a lot calmer. Phew! This last full moon was rocking and rolling here at the Graystone.
Recent confirmations:
Graystone Manor is on the overlooking ridge to the Cherokee Village dating back into the 1700's on the Yadkin River Valley. This would explain for all the odd experiences and energy of late. The Intertribal Pow Wow held at Ft. Hamby just outside of town this last weekend would coincide with a lot of additional turmoil. Since Graystone Manor is on high ground overlooking both Wilkesboro and N. Wilkesboro it has seen a lot of struggle and strife over the centuries. It's path is directly diagonal from the Old Red Fort in North Wilkesboro where Settlers took refuge on the opposing ridge. Dividing the two with the Yadkin River and flat lands. This area was known to be part of the Mulberry Fields mentioned in many historical records. Several noteworthy movements have crossed through this area including Soldiers from Revolutionary, Civil and of course the famed Stoneman's Raid on their way to the Battle at Kings Mountain. No battles were directly fought outside of the Indian uprisings. However, Stoneman did lose several men, horses and equipment to the Yadkin when attempting to cross on the path to Kings Mountain directly South West of Wilkesboro.
Guests have reported unexplained noises, knocking and foot steps. Inn Keepers have noticed many items moved, mirrors removed from the walls unbroken but the spirits will not allow them to face outward from the formal dining area on level 2. Plates have been knocked off the walls. Doors slam shut and open. The center of the spectral movement is found in the Elegant Formal Room facing Wilkesboro's Main Street. Daily spectral shadows and a glimmers of a man pacing can be caught just out of the corner of your eye. Last Fall was a very remarkable year for spectral sightings. The Inn Keeper witnessed a single file march from the back Northeast corner of the property that ended going out the Southwest corner with a white horse leading. Was this a memory of the Cherokee Tribe bringing their dead to the sacred burial place? Or a remnant of Stoneman's lost men to the Yadkin River trying to follow their last orders? Either way....Wilkesboro, North Carolina is one of the Hottest Spectral Spots on the local map. It is no doubt that those who came before us would be reluctant to leave such a peaceful and absolutely breathtaking place. The gateway to the Blue Ridge Mountains could not be any less beautiful than Shangri-La itself. We will let you be the judge.
